My Left Foot

I could not hide my disappointment when the x-ray tech made the comment,

Even though it was a long-shot deal --”These broken bones still need to heal.”

“It is healing”, the doctor’s nurse said. “It’s just taking time -- you need to stay in bed!.”

I replied "that’s easier said than done, when there’s things to do and I’m the only one."

But perhaps if I HAD remained prone, I may not still be alone.

Yet such would require to bind my hands and my feet, or to find

An attentive and potent man, to stay with me at my divan!

(Naturally, the latter would be a preferable fit, as I would certainly convince someone to loosen the straps a bit…)
